The small town PUTAO is surrounded by the horseshoe mountains and the area called KHAKABORAZI NATIONAL PARK is internationally recognized as a hotspot of biodiversity. The old growth forest, high alpine meadows, many of rare orchids, animals and birds it is comparable to the real ‘Jurassic Park’.

Using local guides and porters from these remote area is a part of local community. From short day return excursion trips to the 25 days long the north most Dahondam (the last village situated at the base camp of Mt. Hkakaborazi, 5885 m).
Apart from the opportunity, there is also a wealth of mammals including red Panda, Tarkin, Himalian black bear, Leaf dear and Red goral. Birds,Butterfly and numerous rare orchids for research.
